History

The legacy begins with Bishop Jonathan’s grandfather, Peter Daniel Rehmat in the 1970′s. At that time working as an engineer in the Middle East, he knew he had a call of God on his life. He dedicated all four sons to the ministry. Peter also worked with Swedish missionaries in the 1980′s on the border of Afghanistan and Iran. When he was not successful at reaching that area for the gospel, he prayed for a chance to “face these mountains and dedicate (his) whole generation for the gospel.”  He dedicated all four of his son’s for the work of the ministry of Christ.

Church of God Pakistan was started by Bishop Jonathan’s father, Bishop Rehmat Daniel (shown with wife above), who has been in ministry since 1967. In 1978 he incorporated Church of God in Pakistan as a formal Non-Profit and is a recognized Denomination in the nation of Pakistan.

As a result of his dedicated labor and the faithful work of many people, this ministry has a voice in almost every city in Pakistan! More than 25,000 people attend these churches.
This is a tremendous miracle because only 2% of the population of Pakistan is Christian. Of the 178 million population, 97% are Muslim. It is only by the grace of God that the Church is strong and well established in Pakistan.

Because of diabetes Bishop Daniels has had both legs amputated above the knee. Deciding that a wheel chair is not a fit vehicle for a man of the cloth, Bishop Daniels had himself fitted with two artificial legs and he went back on the streets walking on his own two (bought and paid for) legs to preach the gospel. Bishop Daniel went to his reward Jan 17th 2007.

Bishop Jonathan Rehmat became Bishop over Church of God in Pakistan in 2008, with almost 100,000 people affiliated with the organization. His passion for the Lord is evident by all and the clarity of his calling is inspiring to all.

In March of 2011 Bishop Jonathan brought the network of Church of God, Pakistan under the covering and direction of Renew Ministries founded by Dr. Terry Knighten of New Braunfels, Texas.
